Luckster

Online Casino Review

Intro

New for UK players in 2022 is Luckster, an online casino with an Irish theme. The site is owned by Marketplay Ltd, the name behind other top brands like Spin Rio and Mr Play.

Along with a sizable library of games covering everything from slots and roulette to baccarat and bingo, Luckster also offers a sportsbook product — highly convenient if you’re not just a fan of casino games.

Read on for the full lowdown on Luckster, including bonuses, software, banking, and more — who knows, maybe some of that Irish luck will rub off!

What we like

  • Large welcome bonus – get started risk-free with a combined matched deposit and free spins offer
  • Integrated sportsbook – meet all your betting needs with one site and login
  • Ongoing slots tournaments – spin your favourite slots for a chance to win extra cash
  • Extensive live dealer catalogue – enjoy immersive gameplay streamed straight to your device

What we don't like

  • Limited software developer coverage – while some big names are present, other sites have more comprehensive libraries
  • Library hard to navigate – limited filtering options to help you narrow down your search

Bonuses & Promotions

New players at Luckster can take advantage of a generous welcome bonus, consisting of both a matched deposit and free spins.

On your first deposit, you’ll get a 100% match up to £200 plus 50 spins on Book of Dead by Play’n GO when you deposit at least £10.

Your second and third deposits (min £20) unlock the remaining free spins — 50 on Starburst and 100 on Fire Joker. Although that does mean depositing at least £50 to get the full value of the welcome bonus, it’s nice to see more than just one slot title included.

Wagering requirements are set at 35x for the bonus funds and any free spins winnings. That’s bang on average but will be hard to meet for most.

The Luckster loyalty scheme gives players access to higher limits and reward points, exclusive bonuses and promotions, and increased deposit limits, but we couldn’t find any further specifics about how it worked at the time of writing. Another perk is the ongoing slot tournaments to take part in. They’re a nice addition not so common at other sites, and prizes often reach into several thousand pounds.

Software

It could be argued Luckster falls a little short in the software department in comparison to other sites. While several big names are covered, including Play’n GO, NetEnt, and Microgaming, there’s an absence of Playtech and Novomatic titles.

That said, the library is still pretty broad, with a wealth of slots from lesser-known developers like NYX, Wizard Games, and Skywind. In the future, we’d love to see the inclusion of studios like Yggdrasil or Nolimit City.

As for live casino, the roster includes titles courtesy of Pariplay and Evolution Gaming. Considering the latter is the definitive name in live dealer games, that’s the main checkbox ticked.

Slots

Although developers like Playtech and Novomatic are sorely missed, there’s still plenty of slots action to sink your teeth into at Luckster.

With the bulk of the games coming from Play’n GO, NetEnt, and Pariplay — now releasing titles under the Wizard Games brand — you can enjoy fan favourites like Starburst, Book of Dead, and Gonzo’s Quest alongside a plethora of lesser-known titles.

The slot library is diverse, packed with titles featuring exciting mechanics like Megaways and InfiniReels, as well as a broad range of RTPs and volatilities to suit all players. There’s a host of branded games too, including Guns N’ Roses and Game of Thrones slots.

Live Casino

The live casino offering at Luckster is comprehensive and is one of its strongest aspects, with titles from both Pariplay and top dog Evolution Gaming. Between these developers, pretty much every base is covered — there are many variants of blackjack, roulette, sic bo, baccarat, and poker. Throw in game shows like Monopoly Live and Deal or No Deal and there’s truly something for everyone.

In every live dealer game, a professional croupier will guide you through the action, with each round streamed to your device from a purpose-built studio set. While most tables are designed to look like a real casino, certain games and shows are more fantastical — Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt is a great example.

A particularly useful feature of Luckster’s live library is the staking and player information. At a glance, you’ll be able to see the minimum and maximum bets and how many players are currently in the game. If all the seats are full, you may be able to ‘bet behind’, where bets are placed on the main seats.

As for table stakes, roulette bets range from just £0.10 up to £10,000, while blackjack ranges from £0.50 to £5,000. It’s true you can find higher stakes at other online casinos, but we expect most players will be happy with these limits.

There are six payment methods on offer at Luckster. While most players will be happy with the mix — with debit cards, PayPal, and Paysafecard among the choices — there’s no option for pay by mobile. Extra e-wallet support in the form of Neteller and Skrill would also be a welcome addition.

The minimum deposit and withdrawal is set at £10, although you can still cash out below that if you contact Luckster support.

All deposits are instant, although that’s table stakes at this point. As for the withdrawal speeds, it comes as no surprise that PayPal and MuchBetter take the top spot, although Luckster’s guidance in the FAQs suggests you could receive your funds within a day no matter which method you use.

Design & Usability

It pains us to say that Luckster’s design isn’t its strong suit. There’s certainly nothing offensive about how the site looks — the white and green theme is clean and simple, allowing the game thumbnails to shine.

But in our opinion, there’s just too much at once. As the library is set out in a responsive grid, the selection of games on show quickly becomes unwieldy on larger screens, with limited filtering options to narrow down your search.

If you know what you’re looking for, you can search by game or developer, but those looking for some inspiration are out of luck. There’s no way to browse by theme or genre within the slot catalogue, or even to separate the table games into their own categories.

The site also felt a little clunky to navigate and certain links and buttons didn’t work correctly, so there’s plenty of room for improvement here.

Support Options

Customer support at Luckster is a little barebones. Players have two choices: an email web form or live chat. In fairness, many newer casinos have moved away from phone support, but Luckster lacks any social media presence which players could use to stay up to date with the casino.

Although the ways to reach it are limited, the Luckster support team is available seven days a week from 08:00–00:00 CET, so you should get a swift reply. There’s also a handy document uploader to make it easier to verify your identity.

App Review

While there’s no dedicated app for Luckster players on mobile, the site is fully compatible with smaller screens. In fact, we found the experience to be superior to the desktop site — while the functionality is identical between both, browsing the games library is surprisingly more manageable on a smaller screen.

There are some drawbacks though. Vital information like bonus T&Cs is presented in a pop-up rather than on its own dedicated page. This has clearly been designed with desktop in mind and is hard to read on a phone, so we’d recommend a bigger screen for the admin side of things.

As for the games library itself, there’s parity between desktop and mobile, so you won’t miss out if you’re playing on the go.

Summary

So, let’s round up what Luckster has to offer our readers. First of all, the live casino suite is pretty extensive — and we’d argue that’s the main attraction here, especially with the handy staking and player at-a-glance information.

The slot catalogue is pretty hearty too, although Playtech, Yggdrasil and Novomatic fans will need to look elsewhere.

While an iOS or Android app would be nice to have, the website remains perfectly functional on mobile browsers. Experience tells us live casino games are best enjoyed through a native app, so it would be great if Luckster rolled one out to capitalise on their strong library of live dealer games.

With the selection of slots as large as it is, it’s essential Luckster adds player-friendly filtering capabilities if it wants to improve navigation and usability.

Design aside, the combined welcome bonus of 100% up to £200 and 200 free spins is pretty generous. The wagering requirements are nothing to write home about — cashing out the bonus is unlikely at 35x — but you’ll get a decent amount of free play, provided you’re willing to make multiple qualifying deposits.
