Each round of Jackpot 6000 starts with a spin of the reels. If you win, you can choose to gamble your winnings: either flip a coin for double or nothing, collect what you’ve won, or transfer the winnings to the Supermeter mode, where they’re staked on subsequent spins until they run out or you collect them. On the whole, the experience is very similar to the desktop version, albeit a little more compact. The familiar silhouette of the fruit machine is gone and the interface has been pared down to its most important facets. While that might remove some of the charm, the graphics themselves feel slightly more modern and crisp, and the simplicity of Jackpot 6000 lends itself well to the touch screen.

At first glance, Jackpot 6000 looks pretty old-school. Bearing in mind this game is over a decade old, it’s no surprise the graphics are slightly lacklustre. We’d love to see the desktop game remastered — the NetEnt Touch version appears much more vibrant. As for the layout, there are a few more controls than some other slots, but they’re pretty self-explanatory and sensibly laid out.

The machine itself produces satisfying clunks and whirrs as you hit buttons and spin the reels, but we found ourselves wanting to mute the game fairly quickly — the sound effects and music when you win are a little overbearing.
