We only have good things to say about Dynamite Riches Megaways on mobile and tablet. The game is built with HTML5, so it runs flawlessly on both the latest devices and older models, whether you’re on Android or iPhone. The animation is just as smooth and the graphics just as sharp — no compromises have been made here at all.

One very subtle difference is the feature unlock meter. On mobile, it’s represented with a fuse slowly burning to the dynamite. It’s a fun quirk we wish was replicated in the desktop version, although it has no effect on gameplay.

In collaboration with NetEnt — both companies are part of the Evolution Gaming family — Red Tiger has produced the Megaways version of Gonzo’s Quest. It’s the same as the original title but features the Megaways payline mechanic. There’s no doubt the game meets an equally high production quality as Dynamite Riches in terms of graphics, animation, and sound, but there are a few differences to the gameplay.

Gonzo’s Quest Megaways and Dynamite Riches Megaways do have some overlap in terms of mechanics — avalanche reels, variable paylines, free spins, multipliers — but the former lacks the unlockable features. The Earthquake bonus works the same as TNT in Dynamite Riches by removing low-paying symbols, but it’s randomly activated and doesn’t have to be unlocked. This could be preferable for players who enjoy short sessions, although the game has high volatility so is less suited to smaller bankrolls. As for RTP, the games are pretty much identical, with Gonzo’s Quest Megaways clocking in at 95.77%.

Fire in the Hole xBomb by Nolimit City lives in a similar world to Dynamite Riches Megaways. The premise is pretty much the same with players mining for treasure, and winning paylines blasted off the board to make space for new symbols. Both slots feature expanding boards — while Dynamite Riches does this with Megaways, Fire in the Hole starts with three rows and adds an additional row with every win or wild, up to a total of six, leaping from 486 to 46,656 ways to win.

Both games are incredibly well-presented and which one players choose likely comes down to taste rather than any significant difference in quality, however, Fire in the Hole does pip Dynamite Riches to the post with an RTP of 96.06%. The max win is also much larger — 60,000x your stake, with the trade-off of incredibly high volatility, so it won’t suit as broad a range of players.

Again, it’s hard to knock any aspect of Dynamite Riches’ design. Red Tiger has really hit this one out the park — despite its dank underground setting, the game is bright and colourful, with gemstone card symbols paying the lowest and illustrated graphics of mining equipment paying the highest. Animations are fluid and the game is free of lag.

Jaunty banjo music soundtracks the game; a more subdued arrangement plays in the background but the pace picks up once the reels are spinning. While a banjo sound is certainly an acquired taste, Red Tiger have pulled this off stylishly, and it doesn’t get annoying during long sessions.
